RUMP: The True Story of Rumplestiltskin
Student Book Reviews: Rump
I’m giving this book a five stars out of five because it’s way better than the original version and it’s way funnier too. I like how the miller was like a fat tomato and I like how they would tell the gnomes their messages and they would deliver them to the person they wanted the message to go to. I think this book was really interesting and good.

I think RUMP is the best fairytale ever!!!!!!!!! I love how he goes on a quest to find his relatives and finds his three aunts but ends up running away and gets caught by Fredrick and Bruno. My favorite part is when he broke through the floor by stomping on it. I like how he is really fat because of the pixies biting him. J
I’m giving this book five stars. I recommend this story for everyone.

I give this book 5 stars because this book is really funny, silly, awesome and it had lots and lots of details.
I like the where Rump dances around and says; “Rumpelstiltskin is my name”! That’s exciting and the part when he names the mountain but I really want to know the NAME of the mountain, but I can’t. That’s sad.
It’s a really good book… like really really really really good! Read it please!

I liked it because some part of it was funny and sad it was better than the original story. It had lots of detail but could be longer! It has lots of adventure too. Red is little Red Riding Hood. It’s my favorite book!

I give this book a 4 star rating. It was a good book but it needs a little more details. I wish there were gargoyles on the castle to make it more scary. I liked the trolls, they were kind of funny. I hope there are more stories like the book Rump!

I am giving RUMP a 1 because I don’t like any RUMPLESTILTSKIN. Some parts are bad and some parts are really good. I got really bored close to the end and it’s really long. I don’t want to recommend this book to anyone. I hated these parts of the book: the icky trolls, pixies and the part about where it’s kind of copying the original story.

I enjoyed Rump I didn’t want it to end. It was better than the original version. Rump had more details than any books I have read. I imagined every part of the book like it was a movie. I hope one day they make a movie based on the book. I gave this book a five star rate because it wasn’t boring at all. The writer of this book showed and didn’t tell. It had more mysteries and excitement. I would recommend it for all ages because it is interesting and awesome! There were lots fun adventures in every chapter. I didn’t know that Rumps friend Red was Little Red Riding Hood. Rump is an awesome book. I don’t like the fairytale of Rumpelstiltskin but I Loved Rump!

The story of Rumplestiltskin is the better than all the stories that I have read. When I feel like reading I want to go and read about the story online. I really liked the book of Rump. The story was funny, cool, and weird. The story is much better than the original Rumplestiltskin. In the story Rump had courage, and he set off to adventures in the forest, and to his aunts house in Yonder. I am rating this story 5 stars.
I want to submit this book to Mrs. Duzlemics class.

I would give Rump five stars because
- It's funnier than the original and more mysterious.
- It has one of my favorite fairytale characters Red riding hood.
- I also like the cover and its name. I love the miller and how he is like a tomato.
- I like that he’s greedy and Rump had to face him with lots of braveness and courage and I like how miller could not get the gold off the floor.
- I like the gnome’s, how they were very annoying and I love the stinky smelly troll’s and how they come when they catch you in their trap.
I would like to recommend this book from ages to 8-13 and to my cousin.

The reason I’m giving Rump a 5 is because it is funny and sad at the same time. The best part of rump was when pixies came and bit Rump everywhere. I think it is the best fairy tail in the world. I don’t usually like very many fairy tails but this one surprised me.

The One and Only Ivan
This is a book I read to our class at the beginning of the year during their Listen To Reading time. The students enjoyed this book and would consistently beg me to continue reading after our 20 minutes were up! They would represent the book by drawing and coloring what they were seeing in their minds. This book portrays the life of a gorilla named Ivan kept as an attraction in a large shopping mall just off a freeway. Katherine Applegate captures the thoughts and feelings of this large silverback gorilla who spends a lot of time thinking and painting. The book is based on the story of a real gorilla named Ivan who's story paralleled that the main character in this story. An excellent read for most ages excepting younger children. The book sometimes felt a little slow but that was possibly intentional, as the life of a gorilla in a mall definitely would be slow! 4 stars out of 5!
